Summary:

As in all service modules that United Infrared offers, Level I certification-at minimum-must be obtained by each student prior to attendance. The applications taught are specific to the operation of an infrared business. Your pre-class Certification education will be required prior to attendance.

The Course covers two primary business areas:

  1. Locating and identifying moisture via thermal imaging and capacitance meters. This service is offering wet/dry confirmations and typically work with outside building specialists. Should forensic investigations be necessary, you will have access to our network of specialists.
  2. Forensic Investigator of Commercial and Residential Buildings (attendance includes a custom spray rack ($500 value) for each full pay primary member and will be shipped to member upon completion of course.)

A "Pre-Course Training and Reference Materials" sheet will be provided prior to your arrival at the course. These materials are not required for the course but are highly recommended to help with your business. The owning or purchasing of an infrared camera prior to class will be highly recommend, but some cameras at class may be available for member use (but are not guaranteed). It is recommended in all cases that students are familiar with the operation of an IR camera prior to attendance. Some free online training is available on some of the cameras United Infrared has available. Please notify our office if you request some informational training on camera operation. A laptop is required at each of our classes. Our report templates provided for each of our training modules are created in Microsoft Word. You will need to have Microsoft Word 2007 at a minimum installed on your laptop. Some manufacturer specific report templates are provided.

All United Infrared training modules are intended to offer the complete business solution--including application specific training, report writing instruction--including report templates, marketing support and ongoing mentorship.

Our training procedures are intensive and our methodologies, quality control and reports are all standardized. This means everyone gets a high-quality survey and graphic report at a fair price that is easy to understand and which can stand up to the rigors of litigation if needed.

This is what membership in the MoistureFindIR™ network means:

  1. Customized training seminar:
    1. How to perform an infrared survey of moisture and make the detailed reports
    2. MoistureFindIR™ - The Network, the System & How to Use the Leads
  2. Sophisticated National Marketing Campaign
  3. Leads by Territory as they come into our national call center
  4. Advertising documents and videos that you can use and customize
  5. Legal documents for the MoistureFindIR™ Survey

Building Science and building details
Over view of the definition of building science, hygric buffer and thermal capacitance HAMM (heat, air, moisture vapor, moisture bulk) as well as details for proper control of these controlling factors.

HEAT: overview to describe this barrier and introduce the student to insulation types, conductance differences (R-values), installation imperfections (IR patterns)

Air: overview to describe this barrier and introduce the students to air barriers, proper materials, proper installation and IR patterning. Discuss the importance of air barriers and their prevention of air transported moisture that may cause condensation

Moisture vapor: overview to describe this barrier and the important differences then and air barrier, proper materials, proper installation. Discuss problems associated with improperly installed vapor barriers causing condensation issues. Show heating due to condensation.

Moisture bulk: overview to describe this barrier and introduce the students to different types, including flashing detailing, secondary moisture barriers in enclosure systems, door and window installations for proper moisture barriers (further discussion of windows later as well)
